Construction ministry draws lots on rental units for retired civil service staff

THE Urban and Housing Development Department under the Ministry of Construction organized drawing lots on rental housing units for retired civil staff with in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.The apartments are localted in Thukawadi Housing in Dekkhinathiri Township.


Deputy Minister Dr Kyaw Lin witnessed drawing lots conducted in a transparent manner.Present at the ceremony were Permanent Secretary U Shwe Lay, directors-general, deputy directors-general, department heads, officials from 21 ministries representing 300 retired civil servants, and invited journalists.

The Deputy Minister, who also serves as Chairman of the Housing Unit Allocation Committee, said they have assigned 240 housing units for rent to civil servants in Mandalay with cooperation from the local government.

He said they have also assigned 136 housing units in Yangon Region for active civil servants and are assigning housing units for retired civil servants in Nay Pyi Taw for the first time.He said it was not appropriate to call all retired civil service staff during the pandemic and thus representatives have been called in their place.
