COVID-19 committee honours volunteers, CSOs in Magway

THE National-Level Central Committee for Prevention, Control and Treatment on COVID-19 presented certificates of honour, badges, face masks and hand sanitizers to the volunteers and civil society organizations (CSOs) that are fighting against COVID-19 pandemic in Magway Region yesterday.

The committee also provided cash aids for pregnant women, children under 5 years old and the elderly who are receiving quarantine after organizing handover ceremonies at Magway Education College in Magway and Setkatae Monastery in Minbu.

The ceremony was attended by the central committee’s secretary and Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Win Myat Aye, Magway Region Chief Minister Dr Aung Moe Nyo, Deputy Director-General of the Social Welfare Department, and officials from General Administration Department, Public Health Department, and Department of Medical Services.


At the quarantine centres of Magway Education College and Setkatae Monastery, the Union Minister handed over certificates of honour for volunteers and civil service organizations to the Chief Minister, and presented badges, face masks and hand sanitizers to the volunteers’ representatives.

The Union Minister also gave a total of K4.05 million, K 30,000 for each person, for 101 pregnant women, 26 children under 5 years old, and eight elderly persons to the in-charges of the quarantine centres.

The volunteers reported on their difficulties and requirements in fighting against COVID-19, and the Union Minister coordinated over the matters.

Officials from the Magway Region government’s general administration department and related volunteers steering committees will give the national-level central committee’s certificates of honour to 7,580 volunteers and 172 philanthropic organizations in 25 townships in the region.
If there are volunteers and philanthropic organizations that were not included in this batch, the committee will arrange additional certificates for them, according to the committee.

The committee will also present certificates of honour to the volunteers and civil service organizations in other regions and states after officials from the related region and state governments’ general administration departments and volunteers steering committees scrutinized the volunteers and the organizations in their regions.

The committee held yesterday’s handover ceremony in Magway in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health and Sports.
