Vice President U Henry Van Thio arrived in Hakha, the capital city of Chin State, after leaving Thantlang Township, yesterday morning.
The Vice President and his entourage, including Union Ministers Dr Myo Thein Gyi and U Ohn Maung, Chin State Chief Minister Salai Lian Lwal, Speaker of Chin State Hluttaw U Zo Bawi, Deputy Minister Maj Gen Than Htut, U Kyaw Myo and U Myint Kyaing, local government ministers and officials, were welcomed by the ministers, departmental officials, ethnic cultural troupe and the local people.
The Vice President and party inspected the construction of the convocation hall and archway at the Hakha University, and heard reports on the project, budget affairs, construction of Mindat combined university, water and electricity supply to the university and the needs at the Hakha University. Union Minister Dr Myo Thein Gyi also added his discussions.
The Hakha University Campus should be developed into a learning hub and a site where students can grow local cherry plants, said Vice President U Henry Van Thio. He also inspected construction site of convocation hall. The Vice President also visited the construction site of Nwe Chaung dam and discussed soil surveys at the project area.
He also looked into drilling of underground water funded by the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement with the machinery assistance of Kanbawza Brighter Future Myanmar Foundation in Hakha.
The Vice President attended the opening ceremony of Midwifery Training School of the Department of Human Resources for Health under the Ministry of Health and Sports in Hakha.
At the opening ceremony, the Vice President talked about the importance of midwifery training school that can support healthcare services in Chin State.
Director General Dr Tin Tin Lay from the Department of Human Resources for Health reported on the capacity of school which is located on 20.26 acre of land on Hakha-Falam motorway. The school is a two-storey RC concrete building attached to a female dormitory, accommodating 50 trainees each academic year.
The Vice President also visited the construction site of the three-storey Chin State High Court, and heard reports on the project.
He then proceeded to the Institute of Sports and Physical Education in Hakha, and Director-General U Myo Hlaing briefed on upgrading facilities at the institute.
After giving necessary instructions on the development of facilities and inspecting the construction project, the Vice President looked around a water supply project of Hakha.
The Vice President and party also visited the viewpoint of Hakha to observe the town’s development and took helicopters to Kalay Township for the return flight to Nay Pyi Taw.
