The School Textbook Printing and Distribution Committee held a coordination meeting on the supply of schoolbooks in time for 2020-2021 academic year.
Union Minister for Information Dr Pe Myint, in his capacity as chairman of committee, presided over the meeting at his office in Nay Pyi Taw, and explained the ministry’s role in printing the school books together with private sector through tender system.
Union Minister for Education Dr Myo Thein Gyi discussed the requirement of books for 9.7 million school children across the country, upgrade of curriculum and better qualities of books.
The Directors-General from the Printing and Publishing Department and the Basic Education Department, who are the secretaries of committee, explained the processes of printing, publishing and distributions of schoolbooks.
Chairman of the Sub-Committee and Deputy Minister U Aung Hla Tun put forward ideas for better production process.
Union Minister Dr Pe Myint made a conclusion remark on the meeting after the discussions of Permanent Secretary U Myo Myint Maung and officials.
